Solid-like and fluid-like viscocohesive granular flows down an inclined surface – Implications for gravity-induced landslides

Người báo cáo: TS. Võ Thành Trung, Trường Đại học Kiến trúc Đà Nẵng

Tóm tắt:
Landslide hazards are ubiquitous phenomena in mountainous areas due to different triggering causes, leading to potential and serious threats to human lives and infrastructures. Although extensive investigations have been conducted to study their extraordinarily long runout in both experiments and numerical simulations, the underlying mechanism of landslides remains a challenging open problem due to the discrete nature and complex mobility of raw material in the case of including different amounts of liquid volume.
In this talk, we provide a comprehensive investigation of the flowability and textures of viscocohesive granular flows down an inclined plane by using extensive three-dimensional advanced discrete element simulations. The viscocohesive granular materials show different solid-like and fluid-like flows depending on different key parameters. These results reveal the mobilized complexities in rheological properties and dynamic responses of such flows, serving as an important role in understanding the underlying mechanism of the long runout of gravity-induced landslides.
